The Invention of Lying

“The film is set on an alternate Earth where no one has ever lied, and stars Gervais as a performer who tells the world’s first lie, coming to wield its power for personal gain.”

...was what I found out when I looked up into the internet about the movie "The Invention of Lying".

Hey there guys, Canovie here. I'm gonna tell you the truth today. "The Invention of Lying" is truthfully going to be a great comedy movie, and it's screening this Friday 02, Oct 2009!

So, without further delaying your curiosity, here are the synopsis.

"The Invention of Lying" takes place in an alternate reality in which lying--even the concept of a lie--does not even exist. Everyone--from politicians to advertisers to the man and woman on the street--speaks the truth and nothing but the truth with no thought of the consequences.

But when a down-on-his-luck loser named Mark suddenly develops the ability to lie, he finds that dishonesty has its rewards. In a world where every word is assumed to be the absolute truth, Mark easily lies his way to fame and fortune.

But lies have a way of spreading, and Mark begins to realize that things are getting a little out of control when some of his tallest tales are being taken as, well, gospel. With the entire world now hanging on his every word, there is only one thing Mark has not been able to lie his way into: the heart of the woman he loves.

Sick huh? This is the kind of story I wanna watch in movies! My god, a world without lies. Lol, it's like a world without sin.

Well, aside politics though. Even if the world does not have lies, maybe there'll still be corruptions and manipulations.

Okay, enough talk, let's watch! The trailer!

Yeah.I know.It's kinda cool.

But don't be fooled, cause not all cool trailers are cool movies. Damn, just that day my friend has been complaining about a movie that was similar to "The Invention of Lying" which featured a lot of famous casts from movies similar to "The Invention of Lying".

And in the end, the story was not quite complete, which I hope "The Invention of Lying" is not going to be.

Well, that's all for this "The Invention of Lying" post. In the nest post,I'll post the characters and casts reviews of this movie "The Invention of Lying".

Til then,

Hello again guys!Mr Canovie here and this is the second review of the movie "A Serious Man". For those of you who missed the first part of the review, which is the synopsis and the trailer, you can see it here.

Alright, time to introduce, criticise and deduce the casts of the movie "A Serious Man".

So first of all, let's start off with Michael Stuhlbarg, who will be taking the role of Larry Gopnik, a Jewish academic living in a middle-class Jewish neighborhood in a Minneapolis suburb in the movie "A Serious Man".

Stuhlbarg is originally from Long Beach, California. He studied at the Juilliard School and also studied drama at the National Theater of the Youth of Great Britain, London University and UCLA.

After college, he became a famous stage actor who appeared in the production of several shows, including winning a prize in Old Wicked Songs in 1996, Long Day's Journey Into Night in 1997, and the Drama Desk Award for the actor featured exceptional play for Pillowman by 2005.

He appeared on numerous television shows including Law and Order, Ugly Betty and the American Experience.

His filmography is limited to a number of small roles, including a lawyer in Ridley Scott's Body of Lies and Hedge Fund Consultant cold souls Sophie Barthes. However, his first major role was as a university professor Larry Gopnik problems in 2009 black comedy by the Coen brothers a man seriously.

Okay, then next we have Richard Kind, another famous American actor. He is Arthur Gopnik in the movie "A Serious Man".

Richard Kind has a recurring role on Scrubs as Mr. Harvey Corman, annoying hypochondriac, who claimed that actoreal name is not "doing as much action as you might think" on the sitcom.

He also played an important role in the United States as a crime comedy Psych Hugo, an astronomer who kill a partner to the credit of the discovery of planets ( "From the Earth to Starbucks"), then Law & Order: Criminal Intent as a wealthy patron who has killed the brother-sister and nephew to protect the money he used to finance philanthropic activities ( "Privilege").

He also played in the indie black comedy, The replacement in 2008
In August 2008, said this type will play an important supporting role in the upcoming comedy the Coen brothers dark, the movie "A Serious Man".

Interesting facts about Kind, huh?Well, there's lots more to come! Our next one is George Wyner, who would be Rabbi Nachter in the movie "A Serious Man".

George Wyner (born October 25, 1945) is an actor in film and television. He is best known for his role as ADA Bernstein in a series of Hill Street Blues.

Wyner graduated from Syracuse University in 1968 as a drama major, and is an actor of such demand in the early 1970s. So far, Wyner has appeared in more than 100 television series and co-starred in nine. It is also known for his memorable turn in the cult classics such as Spaceballs, American Pie 2 and Fletch.

Cool facts huh?Looks like we are gonna have lotsa veterans in the movie "A Serious Man". And I'm expecting some very experienced acting. But that's all about the actors now.

Okay, this has never been done before in the my history,I'm gonna be reviewing the directors of the show!

Aight', for the movie "A Serious Man", is it directed by the Coen brothers, which consists of Joel Coen and Ethan Coen.

Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, known professionals like the Coen brothers, is the American filmmaker.

For over twenty years, couples who wrote and directed several successful films, ranging from the crazy comedy (O Brother, Where Art Thou, Raising Arizona, The Hudsucker Proxy) to the thriller Hard (Miller's Crossing, Blood Simple, The man who wasn 't there, No Country for Old Men), to genre films which blur together (Fargo, The Big Lebowski Big Bowling, Barton Fink and Burn After Reading).

The brothers write, direct and produce their films jointly, although until now, Joel received sole credit for directing and Ethan for producing. They scenarios often alternate top billing, while they share the film credits for editor under the pseudonym Roderick Jaynes.

They are known in the film business as a "two-headed director", when they share the same vision of their films. The actors can approach either brother with a question and get the same answer.

Amazing, huh?who would've thought there will be two directors in the movie "A Serious Man"?!

Well, since most of the casts are experienced ones, I'd hope that the movie "A Serious Man" would turn out to be good and hilarious.

Oh,and don't forget, the movie "A Serious Man" is going to be on screen on 2nd October 2009.

Don't miss it!

Canovie,off.

A Serious Man

"Are you freakin' serious?!You wanna go to New Zealand?!"

...was what my dad said when I joked to him about wanting to be a sheep breeder.Haha.

LOL,hey guys! It's been a freakin' long time since the last post, eh?But don't ya worry no more, I'll be more active now and post loads and loads more of reviews for ya!

Okay so for this post,I'll be reviewing about the movie "A Serious Man".

A Serious Man is the story of an ordinary man’s search for clarity in a universe where Jefferson Airplane is on the radio and F-Troop is on TV. It is 1967, and Larry Gopnik (Michael Stuhlbarg), a physics professor at a quiet Midwestern university, has just been informed by his wife Judith (Sari Lennick) that she is leaving him.

She has fallen in love with one of his more pompous colleagues, Sy Ableman (Fred Melamed), who seems to her a more substantial person than the feckless Larry. Larry’s unemployable brother Arthur (Richard Kind) is sleeping on the couch, his son Danny (Aaron Wolf) is a discipline problem and a shirker at Hebrew school, and his daughter Sarah (Jessica McManus) is filching money from his wallet in order to save up for a nose job.

While his wife and Sy Ableman blithely make new domestic arrangements, and his brother becomes more and more of a burden, an anonymous hostile letter-writer is trying to sabotage Larry’s chances for tenure at the university.

Also, a graduate student seems to be trying to bribe him for a passing grade while at the same time threatening to sue him for defamation. Plus, the beautiful woman next door torments him by sunbathing nude. Struggling for equilibrium, Larry seeks advice from three different rabbis. Can anyone help him cope with his afflictions and become a righteous person – a mensch – a serious man?

Wow.Kinda cool plot don'cha guys thinks?Well, that's the text part.And now,for the video part.

Yeap.Totally sounds like a helpless average working executive who's trying to figure out what's wrong with his life, but in the end, there was nothing wrong with it.

A Serious Man is the kind of story where an average person, who works in the white collar industry faces a tremendous amount of pressure and at the same time, he is unsatisfied with his current life.

His life may be,for example ;on the verge of divorce and his kids are all grown up and does not like him that much.

Well, I guess it would all depend on the screenwriter, director and actors.

For the cast and staff reviews, you can go here.

Okay that's it for now. See you later.

Similarly, she made his debut as Rosaline in Shakespeare's scene Love's Labor's Lost at the Globe Theater in London in July 2007 before graduating year. She made her film debut in the 2007 film St. Trinian's St. Trinian Girl as Chief Kelly, a role she won in competition with Sienna Miller.

Alright, things are really getting interesting eh?Okay, the next person then,is Davis Tennant. He is a character called Lord Pomfrey in the movie St Trinion 2009.

David Tennant (born David John McDonald, April 18, 1971) is a Scottish actor. In addition to working in theater, Tennant known for his roles in Doctor Who as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor in Casanova as the title character, and as Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Quite a reputable bunch huh? Well, I'd be expecting a really really brilliant performance from them then.

st. trinian's 2009 Trailer

Hello again guys! So alright, if you have read my reviews about st. trinion's 2009, then you must be wanting to see some graphical previews.Am I right? For those of you who still hasn't, I would simply put st. trinion's 2009 review below the trailer. Enjoy!

"Where do bad girls go to school to?St Trinian's,of course!"

Okay guys, st. trinian's 2009 may be a movie that you chick flick lovers would love. But hey, I'm a very flexible and open guy, so okay, what the heck, I'll give it a try. So as always, I'll present you with the movie's synopsis.

St Trinian's, the infamous school for 'young ladies' is once again facing dire financial crisis! The bank are threatening headmistress Camilla Fritton with closure.

Her unorthadox doctrine of free expression and self empowerment is also under threat from new Education Minister Geoffrey Thwaits, an old flame of Camilla's who is determined to bring discipline and order to the anarchic school.

In true St Trinian style the girls are in a league of their own; smart, fearless and determined to defend the school they love to the end. They need to unite the warring girl gang cliques and come up with the cash fast to save the school.

Sounds like a touching-story-in-the-end kinda movie is this st. trinian's 2009 gonna be huh? Well, for your information, St Trinians is a part of the St Trinian's movie series, where they were made in 1954, 1957, 1960, 1966, 1980 and 2007. If that kinda genre and plot would've been the same, I don't think they have a chance to make a second movie, nonetheless six!

So I would expect several things from st. trinian's 2009. First of all, it's gonna have the conflict, where the school is facing with closure as maybe, they loaned a lot of money, or didn't pay their land taxes or something.

So I guess it's gonna go like, the headmistress of st. trinian's 2009 is feeling pressured, since the school owns a lot of money and pressure from the Education Ministry, which, she had made her archenemy or something. But despite all that, she still fulfills her role as an educator and a leader, while showing bravery and positivity on the outside.

And about the students, okay. They are gonna start with, someone introducing the tribes of girls, which consists of, uh, I don't know...maybe emos, gothics, nerds, popular girls, cheerleaders, or jocks. Then, there will be a newcomer that will, in the end, unites them all.

So the new girl, would move into the house, and is being shown around by the headmistress. The new girl would then try to befriend each and every one of the clicks in the st. trinian's 2009, but then she realized that she can't. And at a point, she would feel down and dissapointed for not fitting into any groups and she would cast herself out from the crowds for several days.

Then, one day, as she was intending to see the headmistress to seek advice, she overheard her conversation on a phone...or with some board of directors that the st. trinian's 2009 is going to be closed if they do not collect the aforementioned amount of money.

As of then, the girl hid the information to herself. Later on, some random students that doesn't belong to any groups, approached her. They later on become good friends and she realized, if the st. trinian's 2009 closes, she would have no elsewhere to belong again. She then took the initiative to talk to her friends about it.

And then, maybe the student council or someone influencial, would gather up everybody and announce it to them about the matter. At that time, the leaders of different gangs would agree to cooperate with each other to collect enough money to save the st. trinian's 2009.

The protagonist would then suggest a brilliant idea that utilizes all the clicks' specialties and abilities to make money for the st. trinian's 2009. The headmistress came to know about this and soon, the teachers joined in too.

Surrogates

Does being another person makes someone better,or the opposite?

LOL,may I say that the word I said before has something to do with this movie. Yes guys, welcome back for another Movie Canovie's movie reviews and guide! For those who are new here, I,Movie Canovie, will post several informations regarding the movie that I will pick every month to be reviewed.

Okay, so this film is gonna be out on the 25th of September. I'm excited myself for this one, because sci-fi movies are my favourites! Especially with the latest and cutting edge CG and futuristic based storylines.

Okay,so without further delaying the excitement, here is the synopsis :

The year 2017 is a future in which humans live in near-total isolation, never leaving the safety and comfort of their homes, and only communicating with their fellow man through remotely-controlled robotic bodies that serve as "surrogates", designed as better-looking versions of their human operators.

Because people are safe all the time, and damage done to a surrogate is not even felt by its owner, it is a peaceful world free from fear, pain, and crime.Bruce Willis stars as an FBI agent who enlists the aid of his own surrogate to investigate the murder of the genius college student who invented the surrogates.

As the case grows more complicated, however, the withdrawn detective discovers that in order to actually catch the killer he will have to venture outside the safety of his own home for the first time in many years, and enlists the aid of another agent (Radha Mitchell) in tracking his target down. Jonathan Mostow directs co-screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato's adaptation of the graphic novel by author Robert Venditti and illustrator Brett Weldele.

And how's that for a future with virtual social environment huh? It really took one hell of an imagination to make up this kinda story. The whole summary reminded me of some of my friends who could sit at home and chat all day,and never really had a life back then.

Surely a good sci-fi movie and a lesson to be learned!Alright, now, for the trailer.

Surrogates (2009 film) Movie Trailer

Incredible, right?Every time I watch this, I only could count how many days a far until 25th September.Yes!

Haha, right.Okay, now for the heroes and heroines of the movie.

Alright,hero number 1,Bruce Willis!

As John McClane in the Die Hard movie series, Bruce has moved the world with his top-class acting on screen. Remember the movie Armageddon? Yeap, the one which Aerosmith sang "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing". He was the lead role Harry Stamper.

And don't forget the movie, The Sixth Sense (yes, the one that had Haley Joel Osment as a kid, saying "I See Dead People"). He was the macho child psychologist Dr.Malcolm Crove.

Next , we have the Australian actress, Radha Mitchell. Some of you may have not known her, but she has quite the credibility in the field.

In 1997, she starred in two films—High Art and Everything Put Together—both Independent Spirit Award winners. Other films—including Pitch Black opposite Vin Diesel, Phone Booth opposite Colin Farrell, and Man on Fire opposite Denzel Washington—soon followed.

Mitchell gained recognition for her performance in the Academy Award–winning Finding Neverland, which co-starred Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. This performance for all co-stars earned each a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture.

Incredible huh?Don't be astonished yet, cause we have one more lady coming up, and she is Rosamund Pike!

She is perhaps best known for her portrayals of Bond villainess Miranda Frost in Die Another Day and she appeared as Jane, the elder sister of Elizabeth (played by Keira Knightley), in Pride & Prejudice.

Pike played Elizabeth Malet in The Libertine (2005) co-starring Johnny Depp, which won her the Best Supporting Actress award at the British Independent Film Awards.

In the same year, she portrayed Rose in The Promised Land (a film about Israel), as well as starring as scientist Samantha Grimm in the cinematic adaptation of the computer game Doom.

Okay, last but not least, the baddie aka the big kahuna aka the final boss. For him, we have the all rounder, Ving Rhames.

I mean, who could forget the characters that he plays, such as Nathan 'Diamond Dog' Jones in Con Air, and the award winning TV mini series Don King:Only In America as Don King himself.

Rhames was also in Mission : Impossible II and Mission : Impossible III as Luther Stickell, and the homosexual firefighter, alongside Adam Sandler in I Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.
